What vehicle can seat 7, 3 of which are children in car seats, has available AWD/4WD, and isn't a Suburban/Expedition/Monster SUV?
Go!
I already know about the Subie Tribeca.

Toyota Sienna
Toyota Highlander
Honda Pilot
Acura MDX
Dodge Journey
Nissan Pathfinder
Hyundai Santa Fe (Sport too)
Mazda CX-9
and finally, the best one, with 365 hp, Ford Flex.

Toyota Sienna has optional AWD...and there is the CX-9 and Highlander
Here is my take on the SUVs

Miata and a lot of custom fabrication.

Ford Flex?

Honda pilot. Can seat 8 if it has to and plenty of space. Definitely has space for a carseat in the 3rd row. I know this from personal experience. DHOO IT!

Don't forget you will need to accommodate strollers for those 3 children. I would guess Higlander, Journey, SantaFe sized crossovers won't. And if they do, there won't be room left for anything else. My sister has a 2 year old and 6 month old twins. She has a Sienna with AWD and, honestly, it's pretty nice.

Maybe the Flex with four adults and three child seats at the same time, but I think the flex is big enough to qualify as a "Monster"

Good list, the new Santa Fe Sport does not seat 7. The old Santa Fe did though.

Does the LR4 count? Compared to the abominations that are the Suburban/Expedition it's tiny! On the same note Lexus LX (aka Land Cruzer)

If it weren't for the AWD requirement, a Telsa Model S would do.

A Suburban/Expedition/Land Cruiser that you call something other than monster-sized?

This probably falls into your "Monster SUV" category, but I'll suggest it anyway. I love my 80-series Land Cruiser.

It's not that tall, it's just loooong. But it's not even really that long. 201 inches. Not that bad, same as any other minivan.

Weird, I always assumed the model s was awd.

I thought it was RWD, but I could be wrong. The Model X is supposed to be AWD, or at least have an AWD option.
But the model S does have (optional) cool jump seats in the back!

You were correct, it just surprised me is all.

How about the Chevy Traverse? That should do the trick.

We were looking at Taurus X/Flex, CX-9, Pilot, and Highlander but settled on CX-9 since I work for Mazda and get cheap parts and service.
I'm 6' 220lbs and I fit in the back row somewhat fine. It's perfect for my kids (5 and 8). And there's decent access to it with the long ass rear doors.
